South Florida

A Little Help Can Change Everything

Many families in our community struggle with unimaginable day-to-day stressors like ‘how do we afford dinner tonight’, ‘is the neighborhood a safe place for our children to play’, and most frighteningly, ‘where do I go when my child gets sick?’ With your help, we work with local clinics, physicians and medical service providers to help low-income, uninsured and underserved children in our South Florida community receive the medical care they need.

ALL WE DO

HOW YOUR DONATION HELPS

We believe that finances should never stand in the way of a child getting the medical care they need.

LAB TESTING

Blood Tests, TB Testing, Bacterial Cultures

Blood tests are frequently one of the first ways doctors diagnose medical problems. These tests can range in price from $5 to over $300 per test – far beyond what many families are able to afford for their children without insurance. Without a diagnosis, children are go untreated for serious, potentially life-threatening illnesses.

MEDICATIONS

Prescription and Over-The-Counter

Without insurance, commonly prescribed and over-the counter pediatric medications are very costly. For example, simple Asthma medications can cost from $50 to over $180 per month. Without financial access to these life-saving medications, worried families are left with the ER being their only option during an asthma attack.

RADIOLOGY

Chest x-rays, Ultrasounds & CT scans

Imaging is a very helpful tool doctors use to diagnose medical problems that require seeing inside the body. Radiology and imaging can be very expensive and difficult for low-income families to afford without insurance. Pediatric chest x-ray costs over $300 and pediatric ultrasounds are over $350, CTs and MRIs are far more expensive.
